Even MGA Fans Fail
We have all heard the scary stories about fans that lose blades & the unhappy ending with a fan poking through the aluminum bonnet. This one is slightly less traumatic.
28 July 2006: After 46 years of whizzing around in circles, Kermit's fan decided life should be more interesting. While buzzing around at 3,500 RPM, a blade departed downward (thankfully!!), slamming into the core, then giving the fibreglass fan cowl a chop, sliced off 3/4 of the radiator bottom pipe causing a very loud BANG, bounced off the chassis and continued on its journey down the highway, followed promptly thereafter by the glycol & a few expletives. No need for bran today! Frequent prior inspections showed no signs of weakness. Enlarge Pic.
